For our first trip in 2024 we’ve decided to take a short trip(long weekend) to Egypt. Here’s the the entire trip in a nutshell…
We had arranged with a travel agency called Domiko Tours, an agency that has several offices across the Middle East. We arrived in Egypt at approximately 2am on Friday Morning, 23rd February 2024. We checked in The Logistics City Star Hotel. The staff were friendly and polite. And we went to sleep.

We woke up at 8, to have a shower and to enjoy an Egyptian breakfast in the hotel. The travel agency had arranged a tour to the Egyptian Museum for the day. Here are the highlights…

Friday night I had started to feel a little bit under the weather so, I missed out on the trip to the pyramids on Saturday. I heard it was awesome but I’m determined to go back and see for myself. Later, Saturday afternoon, I woke up and decided to go out and get something to eat. I asked the security of the hotel to point me in a direction. I took a stroll down the streets of Cairo (here are some pictures)

I ended up finding a quaint little coffee shop as well as a egyptian pastry shop right next to it. Then, I saw a humongous red sign of an authentic egyptian street food restaurant. (See food blog section for more details) But, the people were the highlight of my day. They were all so friendly and personable. I didn’t feel threatened or out of place. I actually felt welcome. And for someone that has social anxiety, that’s a huge deal.

Our last day was a two and a half hour road trip to Alexandria (that turned into four and half hours because the road was closed due to fog). The weather was amazing. We started out at the the Roman Theatre and then the catacombs. After the catacombs we went to The Great Library of Alexandria. It was magnificent. To pay homage to the egyptian mathematicians they put so much thought into the architecture of the library, it’s quite something.

Then dinner, shisha and sunsets right on the coast. In beautiful restaurant called Branzinos, names after their fish dish. (see more on food blog). Outside the restaurant, right on the beach, they have bean bags, chairs and tables and you can order egyptian tea and shisha as you watch the sunset over The Mediterranean Sea.
